STATUS QUO CHANGER
provided by Katalin Brennan
Your partner to find a path to mental wellbeing.
What is this?
STATUS QUO CHANGER is the most fitting term I arrived to after working with business leaders for 3 decades and realized that I was a one stop shop of executive coaching, business strategy, mental coaching, people/personality dealing, effectiveness fixing, and general sounding board partnering through honest and respectful questioning of the status quo.
Translation, I help narrow down the 20% of root issues that cause 80% of difficulties that lead to loss of spark or motivation, stress, overwhelm, burnout, anxiety, or depression which have serious impact on both business and personal life. Essentially, I accelerate the path to a more manageable and balanced life... whatever that may be for you.
Thanks to all the people who encouraged me for years to offer this service to a wider audience, I look forward to exploring how we bring ease and flow to your life and learn from each other along the way.
Some typical issues I encounter...
"It can't be so bad, I'm still functioning well"
You feel stuck, going through the motion without feeling rewarded
You procrastinate by doing things that could be delegated or bought
Your work ethic is top notch but high pressure is turning it against you
You just want an unbiased ear to sanity check logic, decisions, feelings
You can't go to others for fear of stigma so you cope
You don't have time for dedicated self improvement so you cope
You tried many things but results seem temporary so you cope
SO YOU COPE ANY WAY YOU CAN which becomes a HABIT and the NORM
THIS IS FOR YOU IF
You are willing to look at what you could do differently
You are willing to learn new perspectives
You are willing to work every day
You are willing to listen to feedback and integrate it
THIS IS NOT FOR YOU IF
You believe circumstances and others are the problem
You are looking for an instant fix
You believe that masking, faking, coping is a solution
You just want to give this a shot 'in case' it works
HOW IT WORKS
Exploratory Call
Assessment Discussion
4-Week Plan
Next Steps Discussion
THE PROCESS
Make an appointment:
You receive an online questionnaire upon you making an appointment for the exploratory call. This is to be filled out at least 24 hours before the appointment.
Exploratory call:
This call will be much like an interview. We discuss what you need help with, what you've done in the past, what I can bring to help you, and how you and I fit.
Free until now. Once we decided that we want to work together, we'll discuss which plan you want to go with then you get an invoice to pay.
Assessment discussion:
This is a session where we dig deep and figure out the source and contributing factors to whatever you are struggling with. You bring honesty and I bring an objective outside perspective. We narrow down what could help your situation and agree on a plan.
4-week plan:
Week 1: You'll receive access to an online form that you fill out every day (about 5 minutes in the morning, and 10 minutes in the evening). I'll comment on your entries daily or weekly depending on the plan you paid for. We review your progress and fine-tune the exact exercises you need to solidify the new practices.
Week 2-3: We strengthen your skills and thinking to make the new practices easier and more familiar.
Week 4: We reinforce the new practices with challenge situations and to make sure that it is not just your cognitive side that knows the practice but your emotional side is also on board.
Next steps discussion:
We review your progress, what you've learned that can be applied to other issues you may have, what you may tackle next, and any other topic you may want to discuss. The goal here is to compose a takaway that you can act on going forward.

Why only 4-week plans? Because it takes 3 weeks to change (your thinking, actions) and 1 week to make it stick (embrace emotionally).
Why I limit the number of clients? Because I want to provide my full attention and that is all the capacity I have while running my own business and other consulting engagements.
LEADERS' MENTAL HEALTH STATS
You are not alone. In fact, it is more the norm than the exception to struggle with mental issues from time to time.
Executives suffer with mental health just like employees (see research here) but there is far less attention paid to C-suite than other employees (see article here). Loneliness, overwhelm, and depression top the charts and topple that of other employees.
In fact, if you are the entrepreneurial type, you may be part of the 72% who have some mental illness (see study here).
Chances are, you are near MENSA level intelligence which makes you 2-10 times higher risk for mental illness than the general population. (see study here)
A BIT ABOUT ME
Hi there, I am Kat.
A typical GenX keep it in and push through it all achiever type.
Early life:
High grades in school. Excel at sports and music. Socially very active. Showed natural leadership since kindergarden and never stopped since.
Professional life:
Worked 60+ hours for 15 years and got both title and compensation. I've been to the pressure cooker of a litigation support consulting company, startup from concept to B-Round, worked with clients in industries from tech to construction, and non-profit to alternative medicine. Now I work with a select few clients in various capacities and run my own ecommerce business. Met some truly intelligent people and learned a lot. I also lost one to suicide (though not on my watch) and saw many struggle to keep the internal light shining.
Mental health life:
I've had depression since childhood. It didn't help that I have dyslexia and misophonia (sensitivity to sounds). Anxiety developed in high-school and continued at work. The aftermath of two bouts with cancer (15 years clear, yay!) pushed my depression to a truly low point. It was the last drop when I knew I had to change and so I did. Tabula rasa a5bout years ago... I found a way to never get there again (though depression tendencies would probably stay for life).
My credentials:
BS - Production and Operations Management, MBA - Strategic Management, Ph.D. (ABD) - Leadership and Organizational Change
My personality:
ENTJ for those of you who are familiar with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Personally, I prefer DiSC and Five Factor measures but the MBTI profile 'The Commander' is actually fairly fitting. As a natural problem-solver, I aim to identify issues quickly and find a practical and measurable solution to implement which I 'enforce' with structure and leadership. I trust my intuition but also like to verify it with data. For some, I am a bit too demanding because I'm not kind on excuses, so be forewarned.
All this means is that I know when to use logic and when to address emotions.
The fundamental change I made to eliminate ongoing mental issues:
Mental wellbeing is not something money can buy... you can get guidance but you have to do the work yourself.
Your mental wellbeing is less about the outside influences (which you can mitigate but not control) and more about how you interpret and respond to your environmental factors (which is entirely in your control). Let us discuss why!
I believe that a face-to-face call is the most efficient way to get to know each other and decide if there is a good match between your needs and what I have to offer. However, you can contact me via email if you think that is more suitable at info@katalinbrennan.com and I will respond as soon as I can.
